ECNBA to Officially Present Winners of 2026 NBA National Elections Today

The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has announced that the successful candidates in the 2026 NBA National Officers Elections will be formally presented to the Bar on Monday, July 20, 2026.

In a notice issued on July 19, 2026, the Committee stated that the presentation ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the ECNBA Secretariat, NBA House, No. 9 Oro-Ago Street, Garki 2, Abuja.

According to the notice, all successful candidates, or their duly authorised representatives, are expected to be present at the venue for the official presentation, which traditionally marks the formal conclusion of the electoral process and the public recognition of the Association’s newly elected leadership.

The ECNBA also congratulated the successful candidates and expressed appreciation to all stakeholders, including contestants, campaign teams, election agents, observers, branch officials and eligible voters, for their cooperation, patience and commitment throughout the conduct of the 2026 NBA elections.

The notice, signed by the Chairman of the ECNBA, Aham Ejelam, SAN, and the Secretary, Ibrahim Aliyu Nassarawa, Esq., described the ceremony as an important milestone in the transition to a new administration within the Nigerian Bar Association.

The presentation comes after a closely watched election season that attracted significant attention from members of the legal profession. The 2026 NBA elections were preceded by legal disputes, calls for electoral reforms and debates over the conduct of the election, making the successful completion of the process particularly significant for the Association.

The formal presentation of the successful candidates is expected to reinforce confidence in the Association’s democratic processes while signalling the commencement of preparations for the official handover to the incoming national officers. It also provides an opportunity for the newly elected leadership to begin engaging with members on the implementation of their campaign promises and the challenges facing the legal profession.

For many observers, today’s ceremony represents more than a ceremonial event. It symbolises the NBA’s commitment to constitutional governance, institutional continuity and democratic leadership, values that the Association has consistently advocated within Nigeria’s broader legal and governance landscape.

The presentation ceremony is expected to be attended by senior members of the Bar, branch leaders, election officials, supporters of the successful candidates and other stakeholders across the legal profession.
