The Federal High Court in Abuja has revoked the bail granted to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, and issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for the continuation of his trial.
Sowore is facing cybercrime charges filed by the Department of State Services (DSS) over a social media post in which he allegedly described President Bola Tinubu as “a criminal.”
At the previous hearing, Sowore announced that he would represent himself, claiming his lawyers were unwilling to continue appearing before Justice Mohammed Umar.
He is also seeking to have the case reassigned to another judge, accusing Justice Umar of bias and asking the judge to recuse himself from further handling the matter.
Following his absence at the latest proceedings, the court revoked his bail and ordered his arrest.
