Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has commenced lectures at Northwest University, Kano, after gaining admission as a 200-level law student.
The monarch was seen attending classes on Tuesday alongside other students, dressed in a black flowing outfit and a white turban. Sanusi sat quietly at the back of the lecture hall on a three-seater, following the session like every other student.
Northwest University, established in 2012, is one of the two universities owned by the Kano State Government.
A former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and a holder of a PhD, Sanusi has remained a prominent public intellectual, widely respected for his contributions to economics, finance, and social discourse.
The Emir’s appearance in class followed a special admission offer extended to him by the university last week.
Northwest University confirmed that Sanusi was admitted into its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in Common and Sharia Law, citing his extensive experience in governance, economics, and public service as the basis for the offer.
