Businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has credited the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with improving security across the South-East, saying the impact was evident during the last festive season.
Iyiegbu made the remarks in Abuja after hosting Seyi Tinubu, shortly after his appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.
According to him, residents and visitors were able to travel home without the fear that had characterised previous festive periods.
“For the first time in a long while, we returned home in December and truly enjoyed Ala Igbo,” he said, attributing the development to deliberate efforts by the government to address insecurity in the region.
He noted that the improved security situation was already yielding social and economic benefits.
“When people feel safe, families reconnect and businesses return,” Iyiegbu said.
Speaking on his political engagement, the businessman said collaboration with those in power was necessary to sustain security gains and drive development in the South-East.
“The development of the South-East will be an all-inclusive project, politics aside,” he said, adding that meaningful progress was difficult without access to leadership.
“It will only be possible with good people in positions to advise those in power and help deliver meaningful outcomes for our people. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he added.
Iyiegbu also referenced President Tinubu while speaking on leadership and inclusion.
“Our nation’s leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a man of commerce, and all of us need all of us to achieve our national aspirations,” he said, stressing that sustaining peace in the South-East requires cooperation across political and regional lines.
