The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has dismissed suggestions that the ongoing investigation involving former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, is personal.
Olukoyede made the clarification while speaking as a guest on Sunday Politics, a programme aired on Channels Television.
He explained that the investigation into Malami predates his tenure as EFCC chairman, stressing that he merely inherited the former AGF’s investigation file upon assuming office.
“I’m yet to understand or see the facts he would bring out to support that claim,” Olukoyede said.
“All I did was ensure that the investigation was carried out in a very professional and thorough manner.”
According to him, Malami has been under investigation for nearly two and a half years following the exit of the Buhari administration.
