The Court of Appeal of Nigeria sitting in Abuja has upheld the suspension of the former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, along with three other national officers of the party.
Those affected by the decision include the PDP National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature.
In its ruling, the appellate court also affirmed the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court of Nigeria in Abuja delivered by Justice James Omotosho.
The lower court had, on October 31, 2025, restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the 2025 National Convention of the PDP.
The convention was held between November 15 and 16, 2025 in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
It will be recalled that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP had, on November 1, 2025, suspended Anyanwu and the other national officers amid the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.
The Court of Appeal on Monday upheld the decision of the Federal High Court, effectively sustaining the restraining order against INEC and affirming the suspension of the affected party officials.
